House Rock is the first of the larger rapids on the River and starts the span known as the Roaring Twenties. Rated a 7 with a 9 foot drop, it presents the first major problem on the river. The route through House Rock is to steer straight down the tongue and then to cut to the right, avoiding the big waves that crash off the south side wall. Those waves make House Rock one of the more dangerous rapids on the river. Just ask Mark and Bill. In 1999, they went swimming!
