Using a life jacket as a float, and to protect one's backside, you can float aimlessly down the Little C. Every trip down the canyon has highlights. The highlight of the first half is without a doubt, when the weather on the Kiabab Plateau and in the White Mountains is good, the Little Colorado River. Warm turquoise colored waters, smooth travertine rocks, the Little Colorodo is a playground waiting to happen. From the Little Colorado we ran down the river, ultimately camping at Lava Canyon, or Chuar. At the site we picked we were greeted by a rattlesnake, which made several of the women - and Al - jumpy. In fact, Al would have had us camp at a terrible site about a mile or two upstream. This worked out well. We even had our own mine, the Morningstar!
